James Martin feared ‘upsetting Yorkshire community’ with confession about ‘first love’

TV chef James Martin, well known for his French Adventure travel show, and its follow-up American Adventure, has revealed the dream holiday location that was his "first love." And, he warns, it’s going to be a major let-down for his Yorkshire compatriots.Speaking on the Travel Diaries podcast, ITV's Saturday Morning host James confessed: “I love Yorkshire, and this is probably going to upset a lot the Yorkshire community, but the west coast of Scotland is just one of the most magical places I have ever been.” James raved about the rugged scenery and the incredible seafood harvested from the chilly waters of the North Channel.He described his first trip to the area, when he was still in his teens: “Freezing cold, but beautiful, crisp, fresh air… I got to experience the Northern Lights and I got to experience, you know, amazing seafood, the best seafood of in my life, from the west coast of Scotland to Northern Ireland, that area.”As a chef, James obviously has strong views on food, and the importance of obtaining good produce.

He says that here in the UK, we don’t really appreciate the incredible harvest that’s literally on our doorstep, explaining: "I think the problem is in the UK, we don't really appreciate how good our food is.

That's why we export 98% of the langoustines that we catch.“When you sat there in your bikini on the beach in Spain and you're having langoustines, they're usually from Scotland.
