Weatherfield's legendary resident was seen pulling out of his Salsa class with pal Evelyn Plummer during Monday night's trip to the cobbles (April 17) as he simply told her: "I have to go, I'm sorry".
Evelyn, played by Maureen Lipman, was left put out by Roy ditching her mid-class with Glenda Shuttleworth and later thought he had been reminded of his dancing days with his late wife Hayley.
She asked Roy, made famous by actor David Neilson, outright why he had left, and said she understood that he had left because dancing with her was "somehow disrespectful to Hayley's memory".
But the cafe owner shut her down. "I did think of Hayley fondly, but that wasn't it". Evelyn was still not pleased as she felt she had been abandoned for nothing, despite Roy explaining he hadn't been feeling well.
