'It's really scary': Care home residents told they can't return before closure if they're admitted to A&E

The families of people living at an Oldham care home - who are scrambling to find them places at other facilities ahead of its closure - have been told residents cannot return in the meantime if they're admitted to hospital from A&E.

Acorn Lodge Nursing Home in Failsworth, which is to be sold off by owners Oldham Investment Properties, will shut on July 31.

The decision has left residents and their loved ones 'heartbroken'. Following news of the proposed sale, the company agreed to stay open for six months to give people time to find new places to live.

During a recent meeting with social workers, residents' families say they were told they wouldn't be allowed to return to Acorn Lodge if they were admitted to hospital having attended A&E.
