Idrissa Akuna Elba OBE (born 6 September 1972) is an English actor, writer, producer, rapper, singer, songwriter and DJ. He is known for roles including Stringer Bell in the HBO series The Wire, DCI John Luther in the BBC One series Luther, and Nelson Mandela in the biographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013). Idris Elba is moving to Africa to support its film industry

Idris Elba has declared his intention to relocate to Africa within the next 10 years to help develop the continent’s film industry.The 52-year-old actor, who is best known for his roles in The Wire and Luther, was born in London to a mother from Ghana and a father from Sierra Leone.Speaking to the BBC, he has now revealed his plans to honour his African heritage by building a film studio on the Tanzanian island of Zanzibar, and additional one in Accra, the capital of Ghana.“I would certainly consider settling down here; not even consider, it’s going to happen,” Elba said.“I think [I’ll move] in the next five, 10 years, God willing,” he added. “I’m here to bolster the film industry – that is a 10-year process – I won’t be able to do that from overseas.
