Carol Murdoch, 42, from West Lothian had a terrifying experience on a summer holiday that left her terrified she would lose sight in one eye.

Here, she tells her story and shares a warning to others... “I was on a summer holiday in Turkey around 20 years ago and I was sitting on the edge of the bed doing my nails one night.

I’d bought some nail varnish remover but the bottle was overfilled, so when I opened it, looking down, it just squirted straight up into my eye.

It was the worst pain I have ever experienced. I remember screaming and we had people coming to the hotel room to find out what was going on.

New figures from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) indicate that the number of people of State Pension age or over paying income tax has soared in recent years due to frozen tax thresholds and successive significant increases to the State Pension.
