A man accused of murder has told a court that he stabbed his girlfriend in the bathroom after he 'lost it' but says he can't remember the attack as he went 'blank'.

David Liptrot, 56, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of his partner Caroline Gore, 43, but accepts he unlawfully killed her by stabbing her with a knife.

He is on trial at Manchester Crown Court. Ms Gore died after being stabbed four times in her flat at Douglas House, Wigan. Prosecutors allege she had been sitting on the toilet when she was stabbed by Mr Liptrot who ‘lay in wait’ for her following a drunken row.

She was left with neck, chest and abdomen wounds, jurors were told.
