A thrifty bride-to-be found her dream wedding dress in a charity shop for £340 – and is encouraging other brides to do the same.

Daisy Welsh, 42, knew that she didn’t want to spend thousands on a dress when her fiancé, Kris, 43 proposed. After searching for cheaper options online, Daisy noticed other brides in a Facebook group discussing a nearby charity shop and their selection of wedding dresses.

Excited at the thought of getting a good deal whilst also giving back to charity, Daisy, from Penicuik, Scotland, travelled to the Stockbridge British Red Cross with her bridesmaids and her daughter.

Unsure what to expect, Daisy made her way to the shop – where she tried on eight gowns before saying yes to her dress. “I always knew that I didn’t really want to spend much money on a dress, because a wedding itself is a lot of money,” said Daisy.
