Heavy rain and strong winds are set to batter parts of the UK today as the remnants of Hurricane Ernesto move across the Atlantic.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning from 11am on Wednesday to 8am on Thursday. Hurricane Ernesto has caused major flooding to some Caribbean islands and has created dangerous conditions on the East Coast of the US, and is expected to cause a dramatic change in our weather over the next 24 hours.
As the ex-storm moves over the Atlantic, a westerly airflow and a strengthened jet stream will bring wet and windy weather to many, according to forecasters.
Gusts of up to 60mph and persistent rain could bring some “dangerous conditions” to some areas, the Met Office has warned.
