Human remains discovered in Salford 'likely been at scene for matter of days'

Human remains discovered by passers-by at a Greater Manchester nature reserve had likely been at the scene for 'a matter of days', police have now revealed.

Emergency services were called to Kersal Wetlands at around 5.50pm on Thursday (April 4) to reports of an 'unknown item' wrapped in plastic, near Radford Street.

The horrific discovery was later confirmed to be human remains. A major murder investigation has now been launched, with enquiries continuing to establish who the victim was and trace their next of kin. It is thought the remains had been at the scene 'for a matter of days' before they were uncovered on Thursday evening. Police said a 'major' body part had been found and that officers are continuing to search for other remains.
