With over a million viewers a week, watching other people watch TV - and now watching celebrities watch TV - has made Gogglebox one of the nation’s favourite pastimes.
Although no official figures have been released, an inside report in 2022 claimed that celebrities, who are desperate to be on the hit Channel 4 show, earn about £2,000 per episode and have expenses paid for their food and drink.
This is more than regular families on Gogglebox who, according to the same report, receive around £1,500 each month to divide among themselves, as well as a free takeaway to keep them going through filming - which is usually done across two six-hour shifts.This adds up to as much as £12,000 all together across the six episodes they typically star in.
