Holly Willoughby made a surprise return to This Morning on Wednesday 27 December, as a pre-recorded interview was aired as hosts Emma Willis and Rylan Clark looked back through the year. The clip saw Holly and co-host Craig Doyle interview Frozen star Idina Menzel and the interview was shown for a second time this year to mark the 10th anniversary of the popular film. The interview was first aired just two months after Holly's longtime co-host Phillip Schofield stepped down from the show following rumours of a feud with Holly.

He then resigned from ITV entirely, admitting to having had an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a much younger male colleague.

Fans of the This Morning were happy to see Holly's brief return, with some taking to X, formerly Twitter, to share their excitement at seeing her, even if it was a pre-recorded clip.

Sharing a gif of a child shouting "YES!" one fan simply wrote: "HOLLY!! #ThisMorning." Others speculated that this was potentially ITV trying to woo Holly into returning to the show, as one said: "This shows #thismorning misses Holly," while another wrote: "Is this a plead to Holly from ITV? [three laughing emojis] #ThisMorning." "#thismorning are they begging holly to come back or what..." added a fourth.
