Hoda Kotb is opening up about her split from ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman. The 60-year-old Today host and the 66-year-old financier first started dating in 2013 and got engaged in 2019.
During their relationship, they adopted two daughters – Haley, 7, who they adopted in 2017, and Hope, 4, who they adopted two years later. Hoda and Joel called off their engagement in 2022.
In a new interview, Hoda revealed the reason behind their break up. Keep reading to find out more…“Joel is one of the best people I know, and he really is a great human being,” Hoda on The Jamie Kern Lima Show. “And I feel like I’m a pretty great human being, but sometimes two great human beings together isn’t quite enough to make it work,” Hoda continued, adding that she and Joel had been “growing in different paces” and admitted that it had become “hard to be in sync.” “I think a lot of people are probably in these situations,” Hoda said. “One person’s growing…or one person wants it this way, and one person wants it that way.” Despite no longer being romantically together, Hoda and Joel have remained close as they co-parent their daughters. “I have two incredible children I share with him,” Hoda told People in July. “And it’s because of Joel that I have Haley and Hope, without question.
