Hamilton Accies star says cup exit won't derail League One title bid

Dario Zanatta says Hamilton Accies have enough character in their dressing room that a 4-1 SPFL Trust Trophy quarter-final defeat to Raith Rovers won’t derail their campaign.Rovers are flying high in the Championship, while Accies are second in League One, and eventually the gulf showed as the Fifers progressed to the semi-finals.It took a straight red card for Lee Kilday at 1-0 down to turn the tide in Rovers’ favour, and Zanatta – who scored a cracker with his second goal of the season for Hamilton’s consolation strike – says the focus is now on promotion from the third tier.He said: “It’s sad that we’ve gone out of that cup, because of course we’re the holders, but it’s one less competition to worry about, in terms of the league, going forward.“I saw Falkirk’s result [4-2 win over Dundee United to put them in the semi-finals], they’re a good team, there’s no denying that.“They have good players, but it’s one of those things where we’ll worry about ourselves.“If they do well in the cup, good for them, but we’ll worry about the league.“We’ve got a really good group in the changing room, boys like Scotty Martin and Dylan McGowan, who won’t let a result like that cause a problem.“It’s 1-0 and we get a man sent off, it happens.“Of course you want to go as far as you can in the cups, but we’re a good unit in there and we’ll be positive, going forward.”Rovers were 3-0 up, with Sam Stanton’s opener added to by a double from Jack Hamilton, before Zanatta picked up a pass from Reghan Tumilty and cut in from the right, before curling an unstoppable shot into the top left corner.But any hopes of a comeback were then dashed as Dylan Easton added a fourth for Raith.The Canadian striker said: “It’s always a nice feeling when one
