Hamilton Accies boss Robert Watson admits his side lacked a killer instinct and missed an opportunity to gain ground on relegation rivals, as they were held 3-3 by 10-woman Aberdeen.Watson knows his side are up against it, locked on 14 points with bottom side Dundee United, as they head into their remaining three games at Spartans on Sunday, Motherwell the following Wednesday, and at home to Montrose on May 19.Spartans are seven points ahead, immediately above second-bottom Accies, and Watson reckons neither they nor United will catch them now, so is just looking for three points from Ainslie Park this weekend.Aberdeen are top of the section but were already 1-0 down to a Josephine Giard strike in nine minutes, before Madison Finnie was red carded five minutes later, and Freya MacDonald scored the resulting penalty to put Accies 2-0 up at the interval.Bayley Hutchison halved the deficit in 48 minutes, before Accies looked home and dry as Melissa Reid put them 3-1 ahead 11 minutes later.However, two goals in seven minutes from Hutchison in 71 and Eilidh Scott in 78 sent a point back to the Granite City.Watson said: “We played really well, we just lacked a little bit of a killer instinct to really put the game beyond them.“But I think I need to stress how well we played, particularly in the first half.

We had chances at 2-0 to make it 3-0, and at 3-1 we had chances to make it 4-1, which I think would have put the game beyond Aberdeen – but we just couldn’t quite find that goal.“They were down to 10 players and they have complete freedom to play, because they don’t have any jeopardy on the game, so can still leave three forwards up.
