Hamilton Accies star's 'funny moustache' led to charity fundraising crusade

Hamilton Accies defender Reghan Tumilty says a Movember crusade started with the ability to grow a ‘funny moustache’ and has led to him raising thousands of pounds for charity.Tumilty - who is gearing up for Friday night's big SPFL Trust Trophy quarter-final with his old side Raith Rovers - has raised £2180 of a £3500 target for the Movember charity, which is to raise awareness of men’s health, and mental health.The 26-year-old former Hartlepool United and Raith star – who also underwent similar campaigns at those clubs – is delighted with how it has gone for him so far, and hopes that continues throughout the month.“It’s going a lot better than I expected, to be fair,” he said. “When I first started it a few years ago I didn’t think it would be a big thing.“I didn’t realise how much I would get into it, and then I ended up doing the research on it, finding out the stats and the whole reasons for it.“I kind of only started it because I could grow a funny moustache – I didn’t realise how serious it actually is, so to raise awareness for that has been quite good and has raised a lot of money that I didn’t expect, so it has been brilliant.”Hamilton Accies have donated money to Tumilty’s campaign from a successful fireworks night and prizes such as hospitality tickets as an incentive to donate to Reghan, with donation buckets also in place during their 5-0 League One win over Stirling Albion on Saturday.He said: “The club has backed me a lot and it proves how much of a community club it is.“Even the fireworks night the club had on, and the games, and they’ve given me hospitality prizes, so it has been brilliant from them, and I can’t thank them and my team-mates enough for the support they’ve shown on it.“The people at Raith
