The Paris Olympics have wrapped up, bringing an end to a thrilling fortnight of sports. Spectators were treated to unforgettable moments, record-smashing performances, historic achievements and plenty of controversies, making this year's Games one for the books.
Over 10,000 athletes battled it out in 329 events, competing for more than 980 medals. In the final event, the USA snatched the top spot on the medal table, denying China the chance to finish first for the first time since Beijing 2008.Team GB collected 65 medals but ended up seventh - their lowest position since Athens 2004.
Here's a rundown on the final standings, Team GB's performance, and some of the key highlights from the 33rd Olympiad. Despite bagging an impressive 40 gold medals - their highest tally since hosting the Games in 2008 - China missed out on the top spot.They also scooped up 27 silver and 24 bronze medals, bringing their total to 91.The USA also secured 40 gold medals following their win in women's basketball, the final event of the Games, but clinched the top spot due to a higher number of silver medals.
In total, they won 126 medals, more than any other nation. Japan nabbed third place, echoing their performance in Tokyo three years ago, with a haul of 45 medals, 20 of which were gold.
