Gartcairn boss Mick Dunlop says his side have been on “unbelievable form” as their consistent run has them closing in on top spot in the West of Scotland First Division.Saturdays 4-1 win over St Roch’s leaves the Airdrie side one point behind leaders St Cadoc’s with two games in hand, and three ahead of third-placed Benburb, having played three fewer fixtures. That’s a strong position to be in, and Dunlop says it’s all down to his squad. He said: “I think in the last seven league games that’s six wins and a draw, so players need to take a lot of credit.“That’s unbelievable form in this league, we know how competitive it is, that everybody can beat each other on their day, and you need to be right at it.“To have that level of consistency, especially at the business end of the season the players deserve so much credit for that.

I think we only have seven games to go, now, and they’ve got us into a really strong position.“But we haven’t achieved anything yet, so we need to make sure we take it one game at a time and try to keep on winning.”Gartcairn continue their campaign at Blantyre Vics tonight (Wednesday) before travelling to Thorniewood, and can go top of the table.Dunlop added: “Blantyre have won their last two and I think Thorniewood have won their last four, so every game is really difficult, but our confidence is high and we have to go into every game with the mind-set that we’re going to win.“From the start of the season until now they’ve had an unbelievable knack of winning games.”Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
