Acting French Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra has added fuel to growing speculation that Céline Dion is poised to make a comeback performance at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
France is set to make history on Friday with its four-hour show unfolding on the River Seine and the foot of the Eiffel Tower rather than in a stadium, with more than 3,000 dancers and 6,000 athletes participating in the event.
Apart from French singer Aya Nakamura, who was confirmed by President Emmanuel Macron in the spring, the line-up of performers is under wraps.
Speculation that Dion will give her first live performance in four-years on Friday has gone into overdrive in recent days following sightings of the mega-star in Paris Quizzed on the rumors in an interview on the French channel TF1’s Bonjour breakfast show, Oudéa-Castéra said the singer’s presence in the French capital was “not by chance”.
