Cricket icon Freddie Flintoff has opened up about how his involvement with the TV show Field of Dreams supported him through the difficult period following a near-fatal Top Gear accident.
In the show, Flintoff coaches a group of young men from his hometown Preston, Lancashire, aiming to prepare them for a cricket tour in India.
The trip was initially scheduled for 2022 but was postponed due to Flintoff sustaining severe injuries during a Top Gear shoot.
Speaking to TV Times, Flintoff said: "Because of the crash it [the tour] happened a year later than it should have done." "I think in some ways that was almost a blessing - not the accident, but the fact that the lads were a year older. "There are a few things I've struggled with, which I was quite honest about and the lads helped me to get through.", reports the Express.
