Football player dead at 27 after heart attack following pre-season friendly
ok.co.ukTributes have been pouring in for a footballer who tragically died after a pre-season friendly match.The 27 year old, Javier Guitian, who played as a midfielder for Spanish side San Jorge de Llanes, is believed to have suffered a heart attack and sadly passed away despite the best efforts of emergency services.The heartbreaking incident occurred after a friendly against fellow National Youth League side Urraca last Saturday.
According to local outlet El Comercio, he felt unwell while driving and suffered a heart attack when he stepped out of his vehicle.
Emergency services spent an hour trying to resuscitate Javier outside La Xagarda restaurant in Asturias. His club released a statement following the tragedy, saying: "We cannot find an explanation for what happened yesterday afternoon, there are no words to describe the void you leave in our club, a very hard blow that we have to face.

Opposing side Urraca also issued a heartfelt statement, expressing: "We join in the pain after the terrible loss of Javi Guitian, with whom we played a friendly match yesterday.
