The vouchers are part of the UK Government’s £400 Energy Bills Support Scheme (EBSS), which is providing monthly discounts for 29 million households up until the end of March.The vouchers are valid for 90 days from the date of issue, but if you have not received it, lost it, or simply cannot find it, you should contact your energy provider as soon as possible to ask for it to be reissued.
Replacement vouchers can be issued but must be redeemed by June 30, 2023.The UK Government confirmed last week that energy suppliers have an “obligation to make a minimum of three attempts by at least two different methods to contact customers who have not redeemed their voucher”.In the first three months of the scheme energy suppliers issued 6,020,560 (99 per cent) vouchers to customers with traditional prepayment meters, of which 4,261,940 (71 per cent) had been redeemed by the end December - an increase from 66 per cent in the previous month.The UK Government is working with suppliers, consumer groups and charities to communicate the scheme and the importance of checking post, emails and text messages for the vouchers and taking action to redeem them.It is crucial that anyone using a traditional prepayment meter who has not yet received the October voucher - or any of the others issued each month - check that their supplier holds the correct contact details for them.To do this, simply get in touch with your supplier and check your address, mobile phone number for text messages and preferred contact email are up to date.Full details on the Energy
