Livingston newbie Danny Lloyd admits taking to the field against Celtic on Saturday will be a moment to savour - especially for grandad George. The 31-year-old Scouser confessed George was the guiding light in his early days, pushing him on to achieve his goals and playing taxi across the length and breadth of the country.Lloyd signed for the Lions earlier this month as a free agent having been released from Rochdale.
His journey to Scotland - and potentially getting to face a team like Celtic - has been unique. He was still working for Biffa a few years ago, having only turned pro at the age of 25, and he admits that makes him all the more appreciative of the opportunity presented to him to ply his trade in the top flight of Scottish football. He said: “My grandad George is a diamond of a man.
A proper, honest family man. What he did for me and my career - you’d never be able to put a value on it. He took me everywhere all over the country when I was a kid.
My younger life, his life was just total dedication. For me to end up where I am, he’s absolutely over the moon."There’s about 14 people coming on Saturday.
