Exact time Scotland to be hit by double snow bomb as weather takes cold turn

The latest weather maps have shown the exact time that a 'double snow bomb' will hit Scotland as colder air is set to sweep across the UK by the weekend.Temperatures will remain mild over the coming days, but will dip to freezing by March 23 with colder weather expected by Saturday evening (March 16).

According to WXCharts latest maps, around 4cm of snow is set to fall per hour around the areas of Fort William and Inverness - with one centimetre every 60 minutes expected closer to the central belt.

This snow bomb will continue throughout the evening of Saturday March 16, and will let up in the early hours of Sunday morning.The Met Office's interactive weather map shows both snow and hail falling across the northern parts of Scotland by 9pm, with up to 4mm of hail per hour.

Up to 4mm of rain will also fall across north-west parts of the country by 6pm on Saturday, March 16.Forecasters have said that the temperatures are set to stay mild in Scotland this weekend, only reaching 0C in the areas that are expecting snowfall, reports the Mirror.More central areas of the country will see lows of 2C and highs of 10C over the coming days.Jo Farrow, a weather expert from Netweather, added: "The occlusion from the second low will pull southwards on Friday, away from Ireland and slowly down Britain. "This allows colder air to flow down from the north ready for a clear Friday night.
