A man has died in a 'major incident' at the construction site of Everton F.C's new stadium. The 26-year-old victim is believed to have been killed following an incident involving heavy machinery at Bramley Moore Dock in Liverpool, reports the Daily Mirror.Emergency services descended on the scene just after midday today.

They asked workers to leave the site, and one local businessman said he heard rumours of the man sustaining a severe injury.The man was rushed to hospital, but despite the best efforts of medics he sadly died.Officers from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) confirmed they were on site and investigating what took place, and later on in the day Merseyside Police confirmed the death.A spokesperson for the police force said: "We can confirm that a man has died following an incident at Bramley Moore Dock this afternoon, Monday 14 August.

At around 1pm it was reported that a 26-year-old man had been injured and emergency services attended the scene. "The man was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead.

His next of kin have been informed. Officers remain at the scene as we continue with the early stages of the investigation alongside the Health and Safety Executive." A spokesperson for the HSE told The Mirror: "We can confirm we have been made aware of an incident and are making enquiries."Other sources reported that the incident was described as "major" and that the tragedy reportedly involved heavy machinery leading to the man suffering from head injuries.The North west Ambulance Service were also called to the incident.A NWAS spokesperson said: "We received a 999 call to an incident at Bramley Moore Dock at 12.32.
