Sam Dingle is the steady, reliable backbone of the Dingle family. However, after finding out about his wife Lydia’s rape at the hands of Craig, Sam’s kind-hearted ways may have ended.

At Home Farm, Craig is found dead and it looks like one of the Dingles is guilty. The clan head to The Woolpack for a lock-in and actor James Hooton reveals the Dingle court is once again back in session for a week of sleuthing in Emmerdale. “There’s a court of 12 angry Dingles in the pub,” says James. “And Lydia wants to get to the bottom of who killed Craig. " "We start with the finger being pointed at Cain and Sam because they took it upon themselves to take Craig to a disused farm warehouse where they tied him up.” Each Dingle is asked to prove their innocence by explaining their whereabouts on the night of Craig’s death, but not all of them are telling the truth. “Everyone is concealing something from the group when they recount their story, they’re lying to each other,” explains Sam. “But what’s different about this is the flashbacks – the spotlight is on various individuals and centres around everyone in the room. They all have secrets which may, or may not lead to Lydia discovering who actually killed Craig.” For all 12 actors, it was seven days of filming for the ‘Dingle court’ where the on-screen family take the law into their own hands – some Dingles over the years have even been exiled from the village as a result. “The Dingle code is something the family live by, and break at their peril,” says James.
