Emmerdale enthusiasts are up in arms as the beloved ITV soap was axed from tonight's schedule due to football. The much-loved drama from the Dales, initially moved to a later slot of 8.30pm, faced further disruption when the Spain vs Germany match extended into extra time, leading to Emmerdale's postponement and leaving viewers without their fix for the evening.

Despite this, Coronation Street fans can breathe easy as it will still hit screens at 9pm, even though it'll be head-to-head with Love Island. The anticipated episode of Emmerdale was set to feature: "Paddy encourages Mandy to apologise, Sarah is furious, and Gabby senses something is wrong," not to mention dealing with the aftermath of Caleb's bombshell revelation and Nicky and Suni's departure the previous night. While Emmerdale won't grace our screens tonight, producer Sophie Roper has teased that there's plenty to look forward to on the show.

She divulged details about upcoming storylines, saying: "The Dingles have been at the heart of our show for 30 years now, and will continue to be so. "We lost Steve recently, so we're going to be marking Zak's passing in the coming months with a Dingle funeral.

It will be very difficult for a lot of people who work on the show and obviously a lot of our viewers who have grown and love Zak for many, many years - but it will be a hugely fitting tribute for a great character." However, not all is grim in the Dales, as Mandy and Paddy are set to walk down the aisle. "Elsewhere in the Dingle world, we've got Mandy and Paddy building towards a wedding," reports the Mirror. "It is Mandy and Paddy, so that's going to be filled with fun.
