An emergency road closure is in place in Manchester city centre due to an 'unsafe building'. Lever Street, in the Northern Quarter, has been blocked off with building control officers in attendance monitoring the situation.
The top floor of part of a building, behind the Bem Brasil restaurant, has been pictured tilting, with bricks and scaffolding falling down to the ground.
Local Authority Building Control (LABC) personnel are at the scene currently with the one way street completely blocked off as the situation is assessed. Lever Street remains closed from the A62 Great Ancoats Street to Houldsworth Street. The emergency closure has also meant buses that operate via Lever Street have had to be diverted.
