New court documents have alleged that Prince Andrew visited Jeffrey Epstein while the paedophile was under house arrest for sex offences.Claims the Duke made to Emily Maitlis in 2019 on a Newsnight interview have now been thrown into question after he told the host he had only saw the tycoon once since he left jail, in December 2010.On June 14 of that year, Epstein sent an email to a banker.
Part of it read: "Andrew just sat next to me at dinner.”The new evidence on Prince Andrew’s contact with the paedophile has been branded as the most damning yet by one of Epstein's victims, the Mirror reports.The court papers reveal the Duke met the sick tycoon while he was still under house arrest at his Florida home for a sex offence.
In his Newsnight interview, Andrew claimed he had only met Epstein once, in December 2010, after his 2008 13-month jail sentence had ended.The Prince told host Emily Maitlis he went to see the late financier in New York purely to break off his friendship with him.
But according to the court papers, the pair had lunch in June that year while the Epstein was under a 12-month house arrest order and they had kept in touch.Epstein’s victim said: “Andrew’s story of why he saw Jeffrey after his sentence was served was always dubious.
