Married at First Sight UK star Gemma Rose Barnes has admitted to battling with a secret cocaine addiction whilst appearing on the E4 reality show last year claiming she suffered from a "breakdown" due to withdrawal symptoms during filming.

The mum-of-two, who was paired with 32-year-old personal trainer Matt Murray, came across as one of the most vibrant and bubbly participants on the series despite secretly hiding her demons with a decade-long addiction to booze and cocaine.Gemma, 31, said: "The first stages where I was falling apart was probably my comedown from my addiction and I should never have been on that show.

I should never have been cast by them, certainly not. Psychiatrists could obviously tell that I was a bit of a mess."She had hoped to find the 'love of her life' on the dating reality show but it didn't quite go as planned for the hairdresser who's 'crude' remarks left her husband put off and he went on to engage in an affair with another bride on the programme.Gemma told The Cabin Recovery podcast: "I thought, 'I need to stop at least before I go on the show because it’s not going to be accessible,' but as you know with addiction you just swap one of the other.

Although there wasn’t cocaine around, there certainly was a lot of alcohol in those big glass decanters."After leaving the show Gemma had splashed so much money on funding her cocaine addiction that she heartbreakingly lost her home, which left both her and two sons Ozzy, 11, and Cash, five, homeless.
