'Devastation' after Kilmarnock boxing night abandoned and police called

A Kilmarnock boxing event was abandoned on Friday night after a disturbance broke out.Police were called to the Park Hotel around 90 minutes after the fight night kicked off.The Reckoning event, run by SNG Promotions was organised to raise vital funds for the men's mental health charity, Release.However, the event was scrapped at around 8pm after an incident took place in the venue.Police have confirmed that a 19-year-old man was charged in connection with a report of a disturbance and the individual was issued with a recorded police warning.SNG Promotions posted on Facebook: "Guys on behalf of myself ,Shaun Maxwell and Gugy Baljit Summel I am absolutely devastated and disgusted beyond words."The work that has been put into this event to make it a success has been huge, I'm absolutely heartbroken right now...this was a night for men's mental health and to honour and highlight Darren Young's heartbreaking story."It's understood that organisers are now working to re-arrange the event at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8pm on Friday, August 23, 2024 we received a report of a disturbance in the Dundonald Place area of Kilmarnock.
