The government has confirmed the date American XL bullies will be banned in the UK. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced in September that the breed would be banned before the end of the year following a rise in serious - and oftentimes fatal - attacks.
In order to add XL bullies to the banned list, their breed had to be defined. The new rules coming into effect from December 31 will make it illegal to breed, sell, advertise, exchange, gift, rehome, abandon or allow XL bully dogs to stray in England and Wales.
Owners will also be required to keep their dogs on a lead and in muzzles.
