A dad who has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) has begged for a cure after being "handed a life sentence".Mark Somerville, 43, was given the devastating diagnosis in October last year after he began suffering from pulses in his left arm.
The dad-of-four has since lost the ability to use both of his hands and has pleaded with the Scottish Government to push for a cure as he acknowledged "time is running out".Mark, from Uddingston in South Lanarkshire, told the Record: "I feel like I have been handed a life sentence.
The shock of being told that I will eventually die from this has been horrendous for me and my family."Every day that goes by is another day of my life gone.
I feel like time is running out because there is no cure."The dad, who was a general manager at ABM Industries until late last year, called on the Scottish Government to urgently invest in research to halt the disease.
