Crowds braved what was described as a 'mud bath' at the Bluedot Festival on Sunday (July 23) after organisers were forced to cancel day tickets due to an 'unprecedented amount of rain'.

Parts of the ground at the festival, held at Jodrell Bank Observatory, had become waterlogged after heavy rainfall battered the region and a yellow weather warning was issued, with fans seen wading through the mud.

Posts on social media likened the ground to a 'mud bath' with others opting to leave early due to the conditions. However, many festival-goers were quick to praise the festival for their handling of the situation. Try MEN Premium for FREE by clicking here for no ads, fun puzzles and brilliant new features. Bluedot issued a statement on Sunday that outlined how some areas of the festival, including the day ticket holder car park, pick up and drop off points and entrances 'impassable' due to standing water.

Overnight, they said over 1.5km of additional track mats and 130 tonnes of woodchip were laid down as trucks arrived to pump water away in a desperate bid to solve the problem.
