The beloved character was imprisoned earlier this year for a crime he didn't commit. Roy, played by ITV soap legend David Neilson, became the main suspect when Lauren Bolton disappeared.
He was thought to be the last person to see her alive and later misguidedly cleaned her flat to help out his pal Evelyn Plummer.
But when blood was found in the precinct flat, the disappearance became a murder probe and it wasn't long before Roy was charger with his former employee's murder.
