After becoming King following the tragic death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II in September, King Charles III is gearing up to be crowned during his coronation ceremony later this month.
The historic event will take place on 6 May and will be the first coronation to take place in the country since the 1953 coronation of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
But while the occasion will be filled with plenty of tradition and nods to history, Buckingham Palace has revealed that it will also “reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future”.
And one major difference between Charles’ upcoming coronation and that of his mother’s is the guest list involved. Whereas Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation had 8,251 people in attendance, 74 year old Charles’ is expected to be much smaller and will allegedly have a guest list of around 2,000.
