Mikael Mandron insists it’s “humbling” to have delighted St Mirren fans dreaming of equalling their best ever top flight finish this season.
The Frenchman netted twice in Saturday’s 4-0 thrashing of dire St Johnstone, helping the Buddies rack up their biggest winning margin in the Premiership since they thumped Celtic by the same scoreline back in December, 2010.
The Paisley Saints haven’t finished in the top three in more than four decades, when Jim Clunie’s side ended third behind Aberdeen and the Hoops in 1980.
Saturday’s win saw St Mirren strengthen their grip on third spot as their impressive start to the campaign got straight back on track after a disappointing first defeat to Rangers.
