Cocaine warning after 'prop' strain leaving people 'extremely unwell'

Health and police chiefs have issued an urgent drugs warning over a powerful strain of cocaine that has left people 'extremely unwell' and needing 'emergency medical attention'.NHS Ayrshire & Arran and Police Scotland have expressed concern over the use of the white powder described as "prop" cocaine.The drug can cause people to suffer fits, collapse and turn their lips and skin a blue/ purple colour.

Other warning signs are tiredness and weakness; and a pale appearance.Ayrshire Police Division warned that users who have taken the white powder should immediately call 999.A post on their official social media channels advised users to "to be honest" about what they have taken in order to help emergency services get the right treatment.

The post from Ayrshire Police Division reads: "NHS Ayrshire & Arran have issued a harm reduction circulation regarding a strain of white powder described as 'prop' cocaine. "There are reports of people becoming extremely unwell and requiring emergency medical attention after using this powder.

Difficulties have included: blue/purple lips and skin colour; pale appearance; tiredness and weakness; fits; collapse."Having taken a white powder, if you notice these difficulties call 999 straight away."The post adds: "Stay calm and ask for an ambulance."Give as much information as possible."Be as honest as possible about what has been taken, as this will help the emergency services to give the best care."
