Clyde 1 to rebrand Ayrshire's West FM as new-look line up includes Superscoreboard and George Bowie

More radio history is to bite the dust as Ayrshire's West FM signs off the airwaves next month.The station will be rebranded 'Clyde 1 Ayrshire' on September 16 and broadcast the full output from the Glasgow-based station.

Favourites like breakfast show hosts 'Ali and Michael' are to make way with Clyde 1 morning host George Bowie taking over. Hit football phone-in 'Clyde 1 Superscoreboard' will also now broadcast in Ayrshire along with the hugely popular 'GBX' show on a Saturday evening.Listeners will find the new station by searching for 'Clyde 1 Ayrshire.'The station, which celebrates its 50th birthday this year, is currently enjoying a 22-year high in listener figures, peaking at 706,000 weekly listeners for the first half of 2024.Bauer Media Audio Content Director for Scotland and Northern Ireland, Victoria Easton-Riley, said: "We already know how popular Clyde 1 is across Ayrshire, whether it be calls into GBX or Superscoreboard, competition entries or shout outs, we always get such fantastic responses and interactions from listeners across the region."With Clyde 1 ‘s 50th birthday this year, and more listeners tuning in to celebrate with us, it felt like the perfect time to launch Clyde 1 across Ayrshire."With Bowie at Breakfast taking over from Ali and Michael in the morning I want to take this opportunity to thank them both for their great work on that show."Bosses say the station will retain local news, travel and weather output and continue its charity work through Cash for Kids.It follows the move to end more than four decades of broadcasting history last year when West Sound Radio was rebranded as "Greatest Hits Radio" by parent company Bauer as they created Scotland’s first ever nationwide commercial radio
