Chippy in 'heartbreaking' decision to shut doors as cost of living crisis signals end of trading

A chippy has revealed it will fry for the last time this week as soaring costs put paid to its popular operation.Pegs Plaice in the village of Kirkconnel has announced that spiralling bills — which includes some stock more than doubling in price — has left business unsustainable.The shop will close for the final time this Friday.Posting on social media, Louise Brennan of Pegs Plaice: "This is not what I expected to be writing as this has been a very hard and upsetting decision for me to make.
