Texas police have taken a couple's son into custody as a person of interest in his parents' double murder. Johnson County Deputies on Oct. 5 conducted a welfare check on Michael Scarlett, 66, and Kay Scarlett, 68, after receiving a phone call from a concerned family member who was unable to get in touch with the couple, according to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO).

The mother of missing Georgia toddler Quinton Simon, who was last seen one week ago, was photographed leaving her family’s home Wednesday for the first time since the boy disappeared.  Leilani Simon, 22, was spotted leaving her family’s Savannah house on Wednesday afternoon before returning shortly thereafter. An Indiana man accused of smuggling three migrants crashed his car during a high-speed chase in Uvalde County recently, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.  Richard Diaz, 21, allegedly told police that he was being paid $3,000 per person to smuggle the migrants from the border community of Eagle Pass to San Antonio.  He was charged with two counts of human smuggling causing serious bodily injury, Texas DPS spokesman Christopher Olivarez told Fox News Digital.  The driver sped off during an apparent traffic stop in Uvalde County, Texas.  (Texas Department of Public Safety) Dashcam footage shows the driver accelerate away from an apparent traffic stop at night. As the driver sped through what appears to be a residential area, his vehicle spun out of control and careened off the road into a pole.  One of the migrants suffered a severe head injury, according to Texas DPS.Two of the migrants were males from Mexico, while the third was a woman from Guatemala.  The driver's vehicle careened off the road and wrecked into a pole.  (Texas Department of Public Safety) Diaz told the responding officer after the wreck that he "panicked."  It's the latest incident of human smuggling to strike Uvalde, which like other communities near the U.S.-Mexico border, has been inundated with migrants in recent months.  One of the migrants suffered a severe head injury, according to Texas DPS.  (Texas Department of Public Safety) Last month, a 17-year-old girl who police say was "involved in human smuggling" crashed a vehicle in downtown Uvalde, leaving two people dead and 10 others injured.  "The nightmare of the border crisis, when will it end?" The White House said Tuesday that President Biden believes Saudi Arabia has effectively sided with Russia’s war aims in Ukraine following the Riyadh-led OPEC+ alliance’s announcement last week that it would cut oil production. "Days of Our Lives" actor James Lastovic has been found after going missing with his roommate in Hawaii. Assistant Chief Bryson Ponce of the Kauai Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that the pair were found in Kokee, a Hawaiian state park.The chief noted that both Lastovic and his friend were not harmed. James’ mother, Lucienne Lastovic, revealed on Instagram early Tuesday morning that her son and his roommate had gone missing in Hawaii.

New York police reportedly launched a strike force after the shooting outside of Rep. Lee Zeldin’s home.  Speaking to reporters near the home of the Republican candidate for governor, Suffolk Police Commissioner Rodney K. Harrison said he is putting the strike force together for the Shirley area.  "I’m always concerned about retaliation, so putting this strike force together and grabbing officers throughout the county and kind of flooding them in a certain community is our M.O.," Harrison on Monday, according to Newsday.

The two teens shot outside Rep.
