Chilling CCTV images have emerged of a teenager killer holding a blade moments before stabbing a Glasgow schoolboy to death.Daniel Haig was caught on camera leaping onto the tracks at the city’s High Street Station to retrieve the knife he had dropped during a scuffle with other youths.He then chased after victim Justin McLaughlin, 14, who tripped and fell to the ground.

But as he tried to get back up on his feet, Haig plunged the knife into his chest.Justin’s devastated pals desperately tried to save him as he lay seriously injured on the platform, while his killer was filmed fleeing the scene before ditching the weapon.The schoolboy was rushed to hospital but died a short time later from a puncture wound to the heart.Haig, who was 16 at the time of the tragedy, has now been jailed for life after a jury found him guilty of murdering Justin October 16, 2021.

He must serve a minimum of 16 years behind bars before he can apply for release on licence.Prosecutor Moira Orr, head of homicide and major crime for COPFS, said the carrying of knives is blighting communities and destroying young lives.She said: “This case is tragic evidence of the destruction wreaked when young people carry bladed weapons.“Daniel Haig armed himself with a knife.

Just 16 himself at the time, he was carrying it in his rucksack as he walked in Glasgow city centre.“And because he had that knife, Justin McLaughlin lost his life two days after his 14th birthday.
