dailyrecord.co.ukRicky Waddell says Caledonian Braves’ mid-table finish in the Lowland League was justified, and says inconsistency cost them.Waddell has reflected on the club’s 36-game season, which saw the Motherwell side win and lose 15 games in each column, scoring 71 goals and conceding 20.The Alliance Park club finished 10th in the 19-team league, level on points with 11th-placed Open Goal Broomhill, and three behind Bo’ness.While the former Hamilton, Clyde and Airdrie star says he will look deeper at why they conceded as many goals as they did, Waddell says there were factors involved in their season.“Finishing mid-table was probably where we should finish, given how the season has gone,” he said.“We scored a lot of goals and we conceded quite a lot, so I need to look into that and see why that was the case.“I feel we didn’t make enough of double-headers against the likes of Spartans, Tranent and Broomhill – we essentially lost 18 points on that.“Even if you pick up three points and not those double-headers, you’re looking at being a little bit higher up in the table, but we didn’t have the consistency to do that.“Like anything, you’ve got to get a bit of luck on your side as well, and I think there were games that we should have won, but didn’t.“We’ve been back and forth with injuries this season, I haven’t had a full squad to pick from in games, and that’s one thing I have reviewed and looked at.“I need to look at all those things going into the new season, but I’m happy with a lot of it.“I’ve got a good group of young players, some have really progressed a lot this year, and that’s part of the job.“I know it’s a results-based business, but I think people forget that one of our main jobs is improving players and I think we’ve
