Furious Brendan Rodgers apologised to supporters as Celtic lost back-to-back Scottish Premiership games for the first time in over a decade and opened the title race door to Rangers.Rodgers' insists the 2-0 defeat to Hearts at Parkhead was entirely on him and his players despite supporters turning angrily on the board towards the end of a damaging afternoon. The boss tore into his team accusing them of being way off the level required - just a week after losing at Kilmarnock and a fortnight after accusing them of being bullied at St Johnstone in a stinging half time attack.

But the Hoops boss insists he WASN’T surprised - as he’s witnessed performance levels dipping over a period of time.Celtic are now five points clear but having played two games more than the Ibrox side who today could lift the first silverware of the season in the League Cup Final against Aberdeen.

He blasted: “Our desire and the mentality right from the off was nowhere near the level of a Celtic team. Very passive, and lacked fluidity.“The game started a little bit slow, but our ability to keep the ball in the final third and create wasn’t quite there.
