A blaze has torn through a farm in Edinburgh city centre as thick black smoke has been seen billowing into the sky.The Scottish Fire and Rescue (SFRS) raced to an incident on Gorgie Road near the Hearts FC stadium at around 6pm on, July 24.Hero fire crews were made aware of a blaze within a building and the exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time.Four fire engines and one high-reach vehicle were dispatched to the scene.

It is unclear how the blaze started or if there are any casualties.Shocking images shared on social media see clouds of grey smoke rise into the sky that can be seen across the capital.

One concerned local told Edinburgh Live : "The old Gorgie City Farm is burning. 999 on site. I think people are all safe but the smoke is very bad." An SFRS spokesperson said: "I can confirm we are in attendance at Gorgie Road.

We were made aware at 5.59pm of a fire within a commercial building."Four appliances and one high reach were sent to the scene and we are currently still in attendance."We'll be bringing you the very latest updates, pictures and video on this breaking news story.
