A Blantyre woman diagnosed with cervical cancer has raised £5600 for two charities helping her through her illness. Karen Alexis Muir found out she had stage 2B cervical cancer on August 23 of last year and since then has completed her chemo/radio/brachytherapy.Throughout her journey, she has been looked after by the Beatson Charity and St Andrew’s Hospice.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

I was so shocked at how generous people were and the amount that turned up in their droves being so generous with their money.

I couldn’t believe it.“We managed to raise just over £5600, so we absolutely blew our target out of the water. It definitely surpassed expectations.“Everybody just had a ball.
