Albion Rovers boss Sandy Clark praised his players for getting the job done at Armadale Thistle, after a five-star show on the road sent them into the fourth round of the South Challenge Cup.

A Niyah Joseph hat-trick and a double from Bright Prince sealed an emphatic win for Rovers at East of Scotland League side Armadale, with a 3-0 interval lead taking a lot of pressure off.

Clark said: “It was one of those games you’re expected to win because it’s lower-league opposition, but you’ve got to make sure you do things right. “Armadale made a game of it, to be fair, in the early part of the match, but once we got in front we managed the game fairly well, and got enough goals to make it a good victory. “It was a thoroughly professional performance, it was a good attitude, which you would expect anyway, and it was about being patient and doing the right things against a side who were trying to sit in and defend. “Once we got the first goal we controlled the match, and it was good to see our strikers scoring goals. “They’re a good pairing, they work well together and both really enjoy scoring goals, which is great. “It’s good when your strikers are scoring, and you’re always happy when you get a clean sheet. “At 3-0 up at half-time it meant we could get a few players on the pitch who were needing game-time. “We used all five subs and it made sure everybody was prepared and ready for Tuesday night against Stirling.” It was a confidence-boosting display ahead of crunch league games coming up.

Clark added: “We are on form, we are scoring goals. “On Saturday it was a good result, the one before [a 3-1 defeat against Tranent] wasn’t. “We know where our frailties are, we know where we need to improve and we don’t get carried
