A grandad says he feared for his life as a stranger pointed a 'gun' at him and opened fire in broad daylight. Vincent Regan heard a 'clicking sound' when the man pulled the trigger of the suspected firearm.

Fortunately, nothing left the barrel and the 61-year-old was unhurt. Armed cops later shot the suspect with a plastic round.

The man was taken down by officers following the incident in Bolton on Thursday morning (August 10). The 'vulnerable' suspect was detained and a weapon recovered.

The Manchester Evening News understands experts will assess if the firearm was real or viable. Vincent said he was left terrified.
