80s superstar tragically died after sadly forgetting words to own smash hit songs
ok.co.ukIt's more than four years since Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson passed away at the age of 61, after a long 17-year battle with ill health.The Swedish songstress – known for huge 1980s hits with Roxette including Joyride, It Must Have Been Love, Run To You and The Look – sadly died on Monday, 9 December 2019 leaving fans devastated.
Her ordeal began on September 11, 2002, when she came back from a jog with her husband and fellow musician Mikael 'Micke' Bolyos, feeling unwell and suddenly losing sight in her right eye.
Feeling nauseous, she attempted to lie down but instead collapsed in the bathroom, hitting her head against the sink so hard that it triggered an epileptic seizure.
Marie, who co-founded Roxette with Per Gessle in 1986, was immediately rushed to hospital with a severe concussion, where two days later doctors discovered a malignant tumour at the back of her head.
