A young Scots schoolboy who turned his life around after discovering a love for rugby has joined his heroes on the pitch at the 2032 World Cup.
Saul Fenemore, from Carnoustie, joined captain Jamie Ritchie and the squad in France, ahead of their momentous 45-17 victory against Tonga on Sunday, September 24.The nine-year-old, who was described as having "very little drive and ambition" before taking up the sport three years ago, now hopes to represent Scotland one day.
He currently plays for local side Carnoustie Rugby Club where he previously been named player of the year for his age category.The Angus youngster was picked to join the national side as a Defender of Tomorrow Mascot after showing true dedication to the sport.
Speaking to the Record about his experience at the weekend, Saul said: "I had the best time of my life and walking out with Jamie Ritchie and the Scotland rugby team was just amazing."Pictures of the youngster show him clutching his chest as he belted out Flower of Scotland alongside the team before kickoff.
