Yobs smash up Edinburgh buses as routes forced to divert

Buses have been diverted from a busy route in Edinburgh due to yobs allegedly throwing rocks and smashing a window.Passengers travelling on the number 2, 30 and 12 Lothian Bus services have been informed of a diversion due to 'antisocial' behaviour.The service has diverted from Craigmillar crossroads, near Niddrie Mains Road, until further notice, Edinburgh Live reports.The public transport operator posted a service alert on X, formerly Twitter, to informer passengers of the diversion.It is understood youths were spotted throwing 'rocks' at buses passing through the busy road, with one window allegedly being smashed.Lothian Buses said: "Due to a anti social behaviour buses are unable to serve Craigmillar Crossroads and Peffermill Road and are instead diverted via Old Dalkeith Road, Little France Drive and Greendykes Road in both directions until further notice." The incident comes just weeks after buses were diverted from Niddrie Mains and Peffermill Road due to a similar incident, with damage being reported to vehicles.On Sunday night, buses were also unable to operate in the Niddrie community as police were attacked with fireworks and petrol bombs during Bonfire Night chaos.Lothian Buses previously told Edinburgh Live: "Lothian is committed to providing a safe and reliable service for all of our customers.“Lothian has a zero tolerance approach to antisocial behaviour and will not hesitate to remove services from particular areas for a period of time if necessary to keep our colleagues and customers safe."
